Our oldest campers participate in field trips

8th Grade Blue Hills Hike

In the 4th week of our day camp season, 8th Grade Senior Campers attend a hiking field trip to Blue Hills Reservation. Campers and counselors depart camp on a school bus after arrival and travel to the park. The group hikes up Blue Hill then to the Racoon Hollow Path leading to the Visitors Center, playground and Houghton’s Pond swimming area where we will swim, play and have lunch. They return to camp mid-afternoon.

8th Grade Boating Trip

In the 6th week of our day camp season, 8th Grade Senior Campers attend a canoeing/kayaking, hiking and swimming field trip to Hopkington State Park. Campers and counselors, including lifeguards assigned to each group, depart camp on a school bus after arrival and travel to the park. Camper may choose to boat, hike and/or swim and we will have a picnic lunch at the park. They return to camp mid-afternoon.

CIT Cradles to Crayons Trip

During the 4th week of camp, CITs attend the Cradles to Crayons field trip in Newtonville to volunteer. Before the trip the CITs host a camp-wide drive for items to bring with them. CITs and counselors depart camp on a school bus after arrival and travel to the C2C headquarters. The C2C staff lead our CITs through various volunteer tasks. They return to camp early afternoon. CIT Project Adventure Trip

Twice a summer, CITs attend the Project Adventure field trip to the Moraine Farm facility in Beverly for a teambuilding challenge course experience. CITs and counselors depart camp on a school bus after arrival and travel to Moraine Farm. The Project Adventure staff lead our CITs through various group challenges, including high ropes elements that we don’t have here at camp. They return to camp for the CIT Overnights.
