Tara Davidson may be new to our newly-created position of Waterfront Head, but she is actually not new to Sewataro!
Tara worked at camp as a swim instructor and a waterfront supervisor for several years. She was instrumental in developing curriculum for our first year CIT program. She also led our expert Parent-Driver team of counselors in their morning and afternoon unloading and loading of campers. (If you have ever witnessed that operation, you would have proof she knows something about organization!)
Tara currently works as a fifth grade math teacher at Roxbury Prep, a public charter school in Boston. She has also had experience teaching sixth and seventh grades and particularly enjoys working with middle school students.
Along with teaching, she also works as an instructional and curriculum coach to teachers in their first year of teaching. She observes teachers weekly, gives them bite-size action steps so that they can quickly implement changes in their next class. She particularly enjoys this part of her job because she remembers vividly how tough the first few years of teaching can be and had great teacher coaches herself.
Tara also enjoys coaching the middle school girls basketball and softball teams.
She was a standout athlete at Colby College, where she played on the varsity soccer and tennis teams.
We consider ourselves lucky to have Tara come on board as Waterfront Head and help us to implement the many changes we have planned.
Welcome, Tara!!!
