What's Happening at Camp: CITs and Summertime!

Dear Friends,

It’s been a glorious week at Camp. We welcomed our Session 2.4 campers on Monday, hosted our Eagle section Overnight on Thursday, AND roasted s’mores at Campcraft throughout the week! The picture perfect weather was the icing on the cake.

We often tell you about our amazing staff, and this week we’d also like to crow about our awesome CITs. These rising ninth and tenth graders bridge the gap between campers and counselors, assisting our staff while learning about responsibility, leadership, initiative, attitude, and professionalism. Led by veteran counselors Caitlin and Matt, the CITs cycle through different roles at Camp, helping out and experiencing firsthand how each individual position contributes to creating the camp environment we all know and love. In fact, some of our most beloved counselors started out as CITs!

As we looked around during this penultimate week of the Camp season, we couldn’t help but reflect on the growth and development we’ve seen, not only in our CITs, but in all of the campers that have joined us this summer. Whether your child has been with us for 7 weeks, or just 1 week, we’re happy to hear that you’ve also experienced the “magic” of Sewataro through their increased confidence, improved skills, and beaming smiles at the end of each day. One camper family shared; “[Our son] had a better experience than we had even hoped for and gained so much confidence from his time at Sewataro.” Another told us; “My children loved Sewataro and want to return. They have grown immensely in such a short time.”

Truly, the multitude of smiling faces we see each day, along with the continuous laughter, cheering and chanting that can be heard, fill us with tremendous gratitude for this amazing community, making it all the more difficult to come to terms with the approaching final week of camp.
