Session 3 day 5 60.jpg?ixlib=rails 2.1

Dear Friends,

The rain at the beginning of the week didn’t dampen any of our spirit during week five! With the start of a new session, we welcomed 2.3 and 4.3 campers! Whether they are a veteran or a first time camper, it is always exciting to see the joyful look on a child’s faces as they are dropped off at camp for their first day of the summer.

Campers are starting to get excited about next week’s special event: The Sewataro Olympics! Fox, Bear and Eagle sections will be divided into mixed-age teams and competing during different activities throughout the week. Counselor competitions will also begin on Wednesday. Many alumni campers who have gone on to become counselors say Olympics Week is still their favorite Sewataro tradition. See below for Olympic teams!

Parents will often ask us, “When are you going to start running a camp for adults?” On Thursday, we held own annual Staff Overday. Counselors stayed after buses and parent drivers left to enjoy all of the activities campers experience everyday. The evening concluded with pizza and a visit from the ice cream truck. The Staff Overday is one of the ways we say thank you to our talented and committed staff.

On Friday, campers enjoyed a unique Special Event “Dancing with the Staff!” Fox, Bear and Eagle sections traveled through stations learning how to do popular party dances such as “The Cotton Eyed Joe,” “Macarena” and “YMCA.”

The afternoon’s activities lead up to a spectacular dance competition. Four teams danced their hearts out to songs from “Spider-Man,” “Shrek,” “The Greatest Showman” and “High School Musical.” After some unforgettable performances, and “Cha-Cha Slide” flash mob done by the CIT’s, campers voted for the winner by a resounding applause. Congratulations to Team Spider Under My Clipboard!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your family and friends. Get some rest and we’ll see you back here on Monday for an action-packed Olympics Week!

Warmly,

The Taylors, Nathan, and Emmy
