Dear Friends,
At a time when the world feels like it’s moving in slow motion, summer at Camp Sewataro has still managed to whip by in the blink of an eye. It feels like only yesterday that we were in the process of putting together every possible contingency plan, revamping schedules and activities, measuring out six feet of distance (over and over again!), and purchasing box after box of hand sanitizer, gloves, and disinfectant. We were on a mission, with one goal in mind: to give our campers the summer they so desperately needed, and to do so in the safest way possible. As one parent called it, “a slice of (mask-covered) normalcy!” We appreciated every single day with our campers, and seeing their smiles (even through masks!), and hearing their excitement made every minute of preparation worth it. We are beyond grateful, proud, and fortunate to be able to say that the Sewataro bubble held strong, and we made it through all 8 weeks, happy and healthy!!
To our incredible (and incredibly diligent!) staff, thank you for making this all possible. We know how much thought, planning, and ingenuity went into keeping your campers safe, happy and connected, (even at six feet apart), and we couldn’t be prouder of you. We hope you feel fantastic about the work you’ve done, and the difference you’ve made. As one parent put it, “What good deeds you have done for these lucky children! We are incredibly grateful to you all. Thank you for continuing on the Taylor family legacy with such grace under pressure, spirit, camaraderie, joy, hard work and adaptability.” Kudos to you all!
To all of our families who took the leap and joined our camp experience this summer, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to you for putting your trust in us. We know this was not an easy decision, and we are so happy that we were able to give your campers (a slightly modified) “summer as it should be.” Our sincerest hope is that we’ll be able to run our “regularly scheduled program” next summer! Thank you again for your cooperation with all of our new policies, and your help in keeping everyone healthy and safe here at camp; we couldn’t have done it without your partnership.
To our amazing campers…we’ve loved having each and every one of you with us this summer, and we will miss you dearly. Masks, distancing measures, and cleaning solutions were no match for our Sewataro Spirit!! We hope you’ll keep close all of the fun Camp memories – Gizmosis, FriDave, Zumba with Jack, King Wizard with the Lizard Gizzard (“Flannel Pants!”), and many, many more – until we see each other again next summer. Fingers crossed our world is in a better place by then, and masks and distancing are a thing of the past! Until then, know that we love you and will be thinking of you and wishing you a safe and healthy school year (whatever that might look like for you). Countdown to Summer 2021 begins NOW!!
With warmth and heartfelt gratitude,
Nathan, Amy, Emmy, and Jeannine
P.S. Don’t forget that enrollment opens at noon on Monday, September 21st and will be processed in order of family longevity for the first week only!
