Becky Gilles

Becky Gilles is Sewataro’s newest Director, who brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine love of camp. “I’ve dedicated my whole career to camp…this is what I love to do!” Becky began working at a YMCA camp near her hometown of River Falls Wisconsin at age 16, and with the exception of Summer 2024 (when she was back in the midwest helping family), Becky’s been working at camp every summer since. Most recently Becky was at Mass Audubon for 17 years - as Director of Drumlin Farm Day Camp and then Wildwood Overnight Camp.

An environmental educator at heart, Becky says she loves connecting kids and nature: “we all need time outdoors in nature and camp allows you to do that in a safe environment…seeing campers and staff work through challenges, discover things about themselves, and become empowered in the process are some of my favorite things about camp…[camp] is a place that helps everybody grow!” Becky credits her own camper experience as something that makes her who she is today. “Camp was always a happy place that gave me confidence…it opened opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.”

In her free time, Becky is an avid birder, who loves being outside in the sun, and can often be found exploring trails with her dog Gunther and on a paddleboard in the summer. She is delighted to be part of the Sewataro family, and can’t wait for summer to start!
